These are the good things.

from last saturday which was spent on the provo river and eating burnt dutch oven

Smiling and showing all of your teeth.
Every day that the sun still shines.
Falling asleep while reading.
Pumpkin donuts for breakfast.
A haircut (even when it goes very wrong).
One last shave ice.
Changing fall leaves and (distant) snow-tipped mountains.
Observing forty adolescents on a homecoming date.
Biting into an apple.
A scooter ride up the canyon.
Waffles with too many toppings.
Sharing a living room with Legolas, C-3PO and Harry.
Falling to the ground while laughing.
Cheering at a game.
Roommate chats with tears and laughter.

These are the things that make this cold weather worth it for me. I protest and try to ignore the changing weather (being cold is my anti-state, if that is a thing) but I don't think I can imagine eating a pumpkin donut in June. And so, if just for these things, I am unusually glad for this time of year.

Christmas List

wahad) Make a gingerbread house akin to Samatha's. Samantha the American Girl Doll. I have had this dream since I was born and could read Samantha's books. It is about time it was fulfilled. This is pretty much what I have in my mind:
(ps this guy is actually 16 feet tall with a store inside and
a chocolate merry go round that actually works. I dream big.)

dos) Watch this extensive list of Holiday movies that will put me in the Christmas spirit. It includes and is not limited to:
(Required movies)
A Muppet Christmas Carol
The the the the Grinch
Elf
Little Women
The Santa Claus
Home Alone
A Christmas Story
(but I will leave the room when the kid puts
his tongue on the pole, it just hurts too badly)

(Optional movies)
Scrooge
Miracle on 34th Street
White Christmas
It's a Wonderful Life
Home Alone sequels
Charlie Brown Christmas

trois) Ice-skating. I will wear a scarf and mittens and I will pretend that I look like Michelle Kwan. I may even break out my Michelle Kwan necklace which I have had for many years (like her first time at the Olympics, probably) and still haven't thrown away. At least I don't wear it though. Unless I am trying to channel her.

quattro) I would love to go sledding on the hill by the Allen's home, or perhaps up Hobble Creek Canyon. I plan on going pretty fast and not getting hurt at all.

xamesh) I would like to build a snowman. However, I would also like it to continue to not snow until Christmas Eve. These goals may conflict.

kuusi) Along with my extended family of greatness I hope to attend Chuck-E-Cheese because it is, simply put, the best time of the year. We go every year on a very special day which will remain undisclosed because then all of my stalkers will show up. We win lots of tickets because we r.o.c.k. at Star Shooter (Star Shooter!) and get it into the 50 at least every other time. I will then redeem my tickets for a tattoo.

sét) I wish to go up the canyon and go snowshoeing. I have not, as of yet, ever been snowshoeing but it seems to be something I would enjoy and thus, should participate in.

otte) Visit Old Saint Nick, snap a picture, ask for a few outrageous things and be on my way.

nove) Go up to Salt Lake and stare at the Temple Square Lights. Admire the work that some people put into the decorating. DECORS!

ten) I will sing and hum and listen to Christmas music until my ears bleed. That is so gross and is actually impossible. Maybe until I am so sick of the songs that I will demand Christmas be moved to an earlier date. My favorite album continues to be Amy Grant's "Home for Christmas" with Celine Dion's "These are Special Times" in a close second. Many thanks to She & Him for coming out with an album too...it is moving up there with these two classics.

little things make everything alright

This has happened a lot lately.
I am proud to say I am one of these people.
Mosquitos and all.
I love a genuine friend.
Or when I am excited to see someone.
Especially a child. Miss Jessica.
And singing them loudly.
Shout out to the pun kings, Cliff and Brett.
It doesn't always happen...
I am often a victim of this.
Does it count if 'someone' is myself?
I'm secretly good at this.
You know who you are.
I have some on my bulletin board right now.
Yeah, just because.
I always want to do this more often.
With good friends, just the greatest.
 I'm p.o. about this.
 Favorite.
 Hello, Joshua Radin.
When it happens.
Best moment of the entire day, I would argue.
Like when somebody else loves Harry Potter more than anything, too.

These are the ones that made me go, yeahhhh.
Visit justlittlethings.net for a complete listing.
