At times I take breaks from blogging .
Really though, I have nothing to say about Valentine's day.
Or Presidents day.
Or 7,316 tests.
But I do have some things to share that are not related to Valentines Day.
Or President's Day.
Or 7,316 tests.
So, stay here because I promise I've been very, very interesting as of late.
I will now tell you about one interesting thing. I will tell you about CS Lewis night.
Once upon a time I lived in a townhouse that was, essentially, British. That means that everything in the apartment was Britinted (meaning, of course British tinted.) When I use the word ‘everything’ you may be thinking, "She exaggerates." And in this you would be correct. Some movies and food items, as well as certain clothing are American. But it is overpowered because the door, the walls, and the couches could only be accurately described as being English blue. Yes, that is the color. When you see this english blue color you imagine it being transported from the Regency Era, or just from a cozy little B&B. Either way, it is beautiful. Would you like to take a gander?

Okay, okay. I realize that is Jerusalem in the picture. But really, you have to be able to compare the English blue to something.
So, obviously being surrounded by things that are such an excellent shade of blue eventually inspires one to greatness. Also reading a book called The Question of God: C.S. Lewis and Sigmund Freud will inspire you to greatness. If any of you had been in my position you would have done the same. And what is this great thing you would have done? Pretended to be British by drinking tea and making crumpets and watching The Shadowlands. And, to be expected, I have a few things to say about a night such as this.
Firstly, it is basically perfect but it may make you nostalgic for a time you’ve never lived in and a place you’ve only visited.
Secondly, crumpets. This was quite the fiasco because we didn’t have quote unquote “crumpet tins.” Who does though? Using sheer genius and thievery I used tin foil to create these quote unquote “crumpet tins.” It worked. But the crumpets themselves were still a little disappointing. They just aren’t as good as ol’ English muffins. Or maybe I just am terrible at making them. I would let you judge by tasting them yourself but…Willy Wonka never did actually invent edible TV, so just trust me and don’t go all out making crumpets.

Thirdly, tea is enjoyable.
Fourthly, C.S. Lewis is the most amazing man. Reading about his life (and Freud's) is quite interesting. If anyone says that a person can’t actually make and maintain 180-degree changes in life then I would point them to Lewis, who did just that. He found God and then he found Joy aka love. It gives me a little bit of hope, for change and for love.
Just read these quotes, think about them and let them change your lives. Then go and rent the movie (The Shadowlands), watch it, and let yourself cry.

“Why love, if losing hurts so much? I have no answers anymore: only the life I have lived. Twice in that life I’ve been given the choice: as a boy and as a man. The boy chose safety, the man chooses suffering. The pain is now part of the happiness then. That’s the deal.” -Lewis
“We can’t have the happiness of yesterday without the pain of today. That’s the deal.” -Joy
These quotes represent what I like to call perspective. Knowing that pain will come sometime is part of the happiness now. And it is a price that is worth paying. And one last quote to leave you with.
“I pray because I can’t help myself. I pray because I’m helpless. I pray because the need flows out of me all the time, waking and sleeping. It doesn’t change God, it changes me.” –Lewis

remember when peasant gave us legit crumpets from the mother land england to try? and they weren't that great. actually I can't remember what they tasted like, but I do remember being annoyed that someone wouldn't pass the jam...i don't know who though.
cool quotes boddess, I really like them! and you
ok fine, i will watch shadowlands. not that it was ever an argument anyway. how did you get to be so cool? and cultured? greatness plus greatness equals great greatness.
I just might do that. I've never heard of Shadowlands before.
What YA books did you read? I'm always looking for things to show my students :)
Glad I could be there that night, but hurt that I was left out of the entry (most important part of the whole evening).
