I live in the Near East.

Shalom to all of those who are still living in the United States.
And those in Uganda.
And those here-with me.

Living in Jerusalem is kind of like living in the UC (shout out to my homeland yo) only different.

1. They do not speak our same language, in fact it is a different language altogether, in fact there are two different languages that these people are always speaking.
2. I am a celebrity here. Many of you would argue that I am this way at home as well, but even more people love me here. Take these kids, for instance, they were so cute. Disclaimer: my bangs look bad, I apologize to those who, like myself, are annoyed by it.
3. People automatically assume that I am poor or something because they're always offering me 99% off. Do I look like I can't afford to pay full price? It's both offensive and kind of nice at the same time.
4. You can write on things here, and they don't even care. I think I might carve my name on the Dome of the Rock later. Here is when I wrote my name underneath the JC.

5. People look at me and because they are so clever they call me a Mormon. I don't have the heart to tell them that we actually prefer to be called LDS students living abroad and learning at the Jerusalem Center. Maybe someday they'll learn.
6. You can openly talk about war and nobody does anything. There is a full blown war going on here in the JC. We got water guns yesterday and have already attacked, thwarted plots and perhaps we were also attacked. This girl was one who suffered a casualty.

7. These people eat the same food as us...with major differences. The difference is this: everything tastes different. It's really that simple.
8. It's cold here, yeah, it's cold. Despite popular belief it is not warm in the Holy Land in May. Whoever made the packing list should actually come here because one jacket does not cut it.
9. The best thing about living on the other side of the world is that it is a completely new experience. And it's the Holy Land and has been so amazing each day.
And yes, I did leave off at nine. There isn't anything else to say.

It makes me so happy that your voice shows in your writing, Bods. It's like you're right here telling me all about Jerusalem! Keep having fun and keep me in the loooop. Holla holla, baby.
